HBO’s two-part miniseries Olive Kitteridge boasts a knockout lead performance by Frances McDormand. The seemingly subtle, restrained drama is a surprisingly juicy, emotional, riveting character study about marriage, mental illness, human connection, and death. It premieres tonight, and it’s one of the best shows of the year by far, on the big or small screen.
