Drexler University will be exhibiting 'Lexias Pardalis', a butterfly that is half male half female. The butterfly will be put on public display at the University's Academy of Natural Sciences from January 17 to February 16. As per experts, this species can be found in the rainforests of Southeast Asia.
These species are like this as they suffer from an anomaly known as 'bilateral gynandromorphy'. Entomology Collection Manager and Lepidopterist Jason Weintraub explained that it is a condition that generally takes place in bird and butterfly species and both have different coloration.
