Rapid and constant ice melt in the Arctic region presents a grim picture

The recently published 2014 Arctic Report Card — a compilation of recent research carried out by more than 60 scientists in 13 countries and updated annually– states that record high temperatures in Alaska, declining Arctic snow cover and excessive ice melt in Greenland are truly the effects of global warming, which are obvious as well as dramatic.

The report was released Wednesday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The report states that ice in the Arctic region is warming at more than twice the rate at other parts of the planet.
