Growing up as the only child of a single dermatologist mother, I spent lots of afternoons hanging out in her office, looking at pictures of all kinds of skin conditions (I was fascinated).

I also learned early on about the dangers of the sun. My mother didn’t mind if I wore mini-skirts or thick black eyeliner; however, daring to go to school without a slathering of SPF 15 sunscreen (at least!), rain or shine, was a non-negotiable.
