Race for Britain’s Prime Minister Down to Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom

LONDON — Britain’s governing Conservative Party narrowed its field of candidates to succeed Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday to Theresa May, the home secretary, and Andrea Leadsom, the energy minister, putting the country on track to have its first female leader since Margaret Thatcher.

A third candidate, Michael Gove, the justice secretary, came in third in voting by the party’s 330 members of Parliament and was eliminated.
