Queen Elizabeth II visits historic Belfast prison

Queen Elizabeth II of England performed "one of the biggest acts of reconciliation" with Northern Ireland by visiting the historic prison in Belfast that was used during the past conflict as a detention center for Catholics and Protestants.

That was the opinion of Northern Ireland's chief minister, nationalist Martin Mc Guinness, after accompanying the sovereign, 88, on a walk around what is today a tourist attraction, the Crumlin Road Gaol in Belfast, on the second day of her three-day visit to the British province.
