A video purported to have been released by the Islamic State terror group shows a militant threatening to kill two Japanese hostages unless they receive a $200 million ransom within 72 hours, the first time the group has publicly demanded cash in exchange for the release of its captives.

The video, which mirrors other threats made against Western hostages by Islamic State, or ISIS, was identified as being made by the group's al-Furqan media arm and posted on militant websites.
