Nearly one-third of transient ischemic attack (TIA) patients developed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) afterward, a small German study showed.

Patients who developed PTSD were younger, perceived themselves at high stroke risk, and had more maladaptive coping strategies, like denial, substance use, and self-blame, the researchers reported in the November issue of Stroke.
