Prone Sleeping Position could Increase Mortality Risk for Epilepsy Patients

A new study has found an increase in unexpected deaths among epilepsy patients if they sleep in prone position. Study's lead researcher Daniel Friedman, assistant professor of neurology at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City, suggested that people having neurological condition should avoid sleeping on their stomach.

"We found that prone sleeping is a significant risk for sudden, unexpected death in epilepsy, particularly in younger patients under age 40", said James Tao, an associate professor of neurology at the University of Chicago.
