Petroleum engineer Jim Rewerts patented a process for scraping methane crystals off the bottom of the ocean. While working at a Siemens think tank, he found an oil field application for a modified Saturn V rocket engine. And for his stand at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, he streamlined the sale of pork kabobs, shrimp étouffée and boudin balls.
Thirty-five years ago, when his father-in-law became disabled, Louisiana and Texas relatives cooked favorite dishes for a fundraiser. Many of those dishes were fried. Most of them were Cajun.
