Far-right extremism and assaults against foreigners have seen a rise in Germany, a report says, amid a national debate about a new trend of Islamophobia in the country.

According to a Sunday report by the Welt am Sonntag newspaper Federal Criminal Police Office chief, Holger Muench, told a conference of interior ministers last week that Germany is “seeing a significant nationwide increase in xenophobic offences.”
