President Obama Announces A Funding Boost of $240 Million Towards STEM

Today, at the annual White House Science Fair, President Barack Obama announced a funding boost of $240 million towards the goal of encouraging students to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Aside from generating interest in STEM among the younger population, the White House Science Fair is also focused on promoting diversity in these fields.

Part of the funding, $90 million, will be directed towards a campaign to popularize STEM education and opportunities in underrepresented youth groups, such as girls and minorities.
