A new study warns pregnant women about the use of opioid to manage pain. According to the researchers, such narcotic pain relievers can elevate risk of neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) among infants after birth.
For their study, the researchers analyzed data from 111,029 pregnant mothers. The record came from TennCare, Tennessee’s Medicaid program.
