STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A proposed visit by Pope Francis to New York City in September may include an address to the United Nations, a mass at Madison Square Garden and stops at the 9/11 Museum and St. Patrick's Cathedral.

A tour of New York City is in the middle of a visit to the United States by the pontiff that has been tentatively put on the calendar for Sept. 22-27.
