Plants Hear and Respond to Threatening Sounds Produce by Insects

According to a new study, plants can hear and respond to the threat produced by leaf munching insects.

To observe this plant behavior, scientists recorded the caterpillars’ munching sounds and vibrations and then presented these sounds to other plants which weren’t exposed to these vibrations. It was seen that exposed plants produced good amount of mustard oil that was unappetizing for caterpillars.
