The first-ever photograph of the Bouvier's red colobus monkey has been captured by two primatologists working in the forests of the Republic of Congo. The creature is a rare primate and was not spotted in the wild after 1970s. As it was not seen for such a long time, people started believing that it went extinct.
However, the team found a group of red colobus in the swamp forests along the Bokiba River in the national park. The feat was made possible with the help of local people familiar with red colobus vocalizations and behavior.
