'The Passion' procession crosses Bourbon Street

The most electric offstage moment of Fox television's live broadcast "The Passion" on Sunday (March 22) was surely when the 20-foot glowing cross of Jesus entered the lurid neon canyon of Bourbon Street. The cross, made of translucent corrugated plastic, LED lights and a large battery, was borne on the shoulders of a team of volunteers and followed by a crowd of hundreds.

The brilliant white cross was the central symbol of a 90-minute procession that took place in the streets of the CBD and French Quarter as the musical drama unfolded on the 10-story stage on the New Orleans riverfront.
