Police in France brought two hostage situations to an end Friday, with the gunmen believed to have carried out a massacre at the offices of Charlie Hebdo killed in an industrial estate outside of the city, and a separate hostage-taker killed in a Kosher grocery store in Paris.

The brothers accused of carrying out the massacre at the French satirical newspaper were killed in a police siege, according to the mayor of a town near where they were cornered. The sound of gunfire and explosions could be heard on French TV.
