Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in his speech to the UN General Assembly in September refused to bow to US pressure to return to direct negotiations with Israel, saying that any negotiations must include in the outcome a definite timetable for ending the Israeli occupation of the West Bank (WB) and siege of Gaza.
