In a year when Hollywood finally made a big Martin Luther King Jr. biopic, no black actors were nominated in major categories for Academy Awards.

Ava DuVernay and David Oyelowo, the director and lead actor in “Selma,” missed out on Oscar nominations handed out today in Beverly Hills, California. “Selma” was produced by Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Films and Brad Pitt’s company, Plan B.
