Osborne Pledges 2 Billion Pounds to Boost U.K. Health Service

Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne promised an extra 2 billion pounds ($3.1 billion) for the National Health Service and reiterated his pledge that the bulk of spending cuts will come from the welfare budget.

The extra health funding will be used to support front line services and the day-to-day work of doctors and nurses, Osborne told BBC Television’s “Andrew Marr Show” today. He will set out full details of the plans in his Autumn Statement to Parliament on Dec. 3.
