Old Missionary Kidnapped in Nigeria Released

(Bloomberg) -- A 71-year-old American woman who has spent a large part of her life doing missionary work in Africa has been safely freed in Nigeria after being held captive for almost two weeks, The Free Methodist Church said.

Phyllis Sortor, a widow, was released on Friday evening into the “care of authorities and Free Methodist church leaders,” according to a statement on the church’s website.
