Officials Question Aggressive Hep C Screenings

Hepatitis C is a condition caused by a virus usually spread through direct contact of infected blood. This disease is particularly prolific among Baby Boomers because that generation was wrought with intravenous drug use, less safe tattoos, and contaminated blood transfusions.

And we have largely depended on screenings to determine who needs treatment. A recent study, however, suggests that it may be a waste of time—and money—to test so aggressively.
