Obese Crash Test Dummies Development In Process To Reflect High U.S. Obesity Rates

The Michigan company Humanetics, the only crash test dummy maker in US will be developing fatter crash dummies to reflect the fact that many Americans are obese and to protect their lives.

The Plymouth, Michigan based company is working on models that are about 270 pounds (120kg), instead of the existing 167 pounds (75kg). Humanetics CEO Chris O’Connor said that the testing will commence by the end of this year and will be available for widespread use sometime in 2015.
