Obama to outline $215M precision medicine plan today

Executives from a handful of Bay State biotech firms will be in attendance this morning as President Barack Obama announces a $215 million plan to vastly expand efforts to personalize new cancer treatments to fit patients based on their genetics.

The centerpiece of the president's Precision Medicine Initiative, which was first alluded to last week in Obama's State of the Union address, is the creation of a group of at least a million volunteers across all ages and races, both sick and healthy, who would share medical and genomic data.
