Obama making ‘bold’ historic visit to Hiroshima, but he won’t be apologizing

Obama is the first U.S. president to visit since the attack on Hiroshima in the final days of World War II killed 140,000 people. But he will be focusing on a nuclear-free future rather than apologizing for the past.

WASHINGTON—In a moment seven decades in the making, President Barack Obama this month will become the first sitting American president to visit Hiroshima, where the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb, decimated a city and propelled the world into the Atomic Age.
