NYU-Langone Medical Center reopens upgraded emergency room

A $50 million gift from billionaire businessman Ronald Perelman helped renovate the state-of-the-art facility, which is triple the size of what it was, with more than 20 private bays and waiting areas furnished with attractive leather chairs, soothing colors and modern artwork on the walls. The old emergency room was decimated during Hurricane Sandy.

Eighteen months after Hurricane Sandy ripped through and destroyed the emergency room at NYU-Langone Medical Center, officials reopened its doors Thursday with a new state of the art facility.
