The NYC People's Climate March

Perhaps most characteristic of the People’s Climate March was its participants’ unanimous belief in one another’s capacity to change the trajectory of the problem known as global climate change. Although I expected to witness a protest largely distinct from the lives of its participants because of the march’s focus on environmental concerns, the People’s Climate March could not have better encapsulated what it means to be a person, and more specifically, a person who cares about other people.

Joining the march from the 79th and Central Park West entrance, I was confronted by the sight of thousands of people smiling, dancing, and brimming with optimism about overcoming what is believed by many to be the most pressing concern of the 21st century.
