NYC councilman wants public hearing on city art proposals

A councilman is calling for more public comment on city art commissions following criticism by some residents of a plan to install a large pink sculpture of a reclining figure in Queens.

Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer says he'll introduce legislation on Tuesday that would allow for at least one public hearing on government-financed art commissions early in the design process.
