Number of American Men and Women with Big-bellied has Climbed, CDC Suggests

Researchers have reported in Wednesday’s Journal of the American Medical Association, results of a government study in which they suggests that the number of American men and women with big-bellied has climbed at a startling rate over the past decade. Strangely, however, while waistlines are expanded to a circumference of almost 39 inches, the average body mass index among adults—one of the key factors for determining obesity—seems to have stabilized.

Dr. Earl Ford is a medical officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the author of the report says “[Waist circumference] has kind of been picking up year after year [but] BMI flat-lined a little bit”.
