Here is a new smartphone accessory that can detect HIV and syphilis. This new device has been developed by Columbia University researchers. The findings were published in the Science Translational Medicine.

It was tested in Rwanda when health workers used it to analyze blood samples from 96 female patients. The health care workers were given thirty minutes of training on the device. 97% of the patients reportedly had a positive response to the device.
