North Face founder's death in Patagonia shows dangers of kayaking

The North Face founder Douglas Tompkins died Tuesday in Patagonia due to injuries he sustained while kayaking, a sport that has seen its share of fatalities in recent years.

Tompkins, 72, suffered severe hypothermia while on a kayaking outing in South America, according to reports out of Chile.
