Norovirus Sickens 140 Students at Boston Elementary School

Boston public schools are warning students and parents about this season’s norovirus, which has reared its ugly head at Condon Elementary School. Boston public school spokesman Lee McGuire said that approximately 140 students and 10 staff members at the school have been sick with the highly contagious stomach virus. There are 800 students and 65 teachers at the school.

Norovirus is highly contagious and hospitalizes as many as 71,000 people annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As many as 800 people die from the illness each year.
