NOAA to rank algae outbreaks on 1-10 scale

Researchers will start using a scale of 1 to 10 to predict and rank algae outbreaks, the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has announced.

The NOAA said that a ranking system similar to the Richter scale would help researcher better predict and people better understand forecasts about algae outbreaks. It may be noted here that the Richter scale (1-10) is used to gauge the magnitude of earthquakes.
