No human infections of avian flu H5 reported in Taiwan: CDC

Taipei, Jan. 22 (CNA) The Centers for Disease Control (CDC, 疾管署) reassured the public Thursday that there has been no evidence of bird-to-human transmission of avian flu in an appeal for calm, as separate strains of the virus continued to spread among poultry in Taiwan.

The CDC said that as of Jan. 20, it has been monitoring 1,377 people working at affected farms, as well as those who may have had contact with the H5N2, H5N3 or H5N8 viruses.
