No Added Benefit With Combo Injections

Epidural glucocorticoid-lidocaine injections for lumbar spinal stenosis did not improve pain or functioning at 6 weeks compared with epidural injections of lidocaine alone, found a large randomized controlled trial published in the July 3 issue of The New England Journal of Medicine.

At 6 weeks, pain and disability scores had significantly improved in both treatment groups. However, no differences were observed between treatment groups.
