NME News Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp A Butterfly' breaks global Spotify record with 9.6m streams in one day

Kendrick Lamar's new album has broken the record for the largest number of streams on a single day with 'To Pimp A Butterfly' being streamed 9.6m times on Monday.

The album was released by surprise this week (March 16) with many fans expecting the album to come out a week later on March 23. 'To Pimp A Butterfly' came out simultaneously on iTunes and Spotify with 9.6m people listening to the album via the streaming service on the first day alone.
