As autumn turns to winter, the cooling waters around Cape Cod become a hazard to endangered sea turtles--especially those trapped in the bay. Nine such sea turtles--all Kemp's Ridleys--were rescued from the shores of the Outer Cape this weekend, all suffering from hypothermia.
November, according to the New England Aquarium (NEA), marks the start of the sea turtle stranding season. So far this month, 11 sea turtles have stranded, the first on November 3 on Martha's Vineyard, according to an NEA release.
