Nighttime Rocket Launch Will Be Visible from US East Coast Monday

An Orbital Sciences-built Antares rocket stands atop its launch pad at sunrise on Oct. 26, 2014, one day ahead of a planned evening launch from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia. The rocket and its Cygnus cargo ship will launch at 6:45 p.m. EDT on Oct. 27 and will be visible from a wide region of the U.S. East Coast.

If you live along the U.S. East Coast, you have a great opportunity to see a rocket launch from your own backyard Monday evening (Oct. 27), but you'll need to know when and where to look to spot the brilliant liftoff.
