Protests over the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad by magazine Charlie Hebdo left 10 people dead in Niger over two days, as France warned its citizens to stay indoors as rioters torched churches.

Clashes erupted today between demonstrators and security forces when about a thousand people gathered outside the main mosque of Niamey, Niger’s capital, Radio France Internationale reported.
