Nicolas Cage laces up for realpolitik in this downer of a political drama. Set against the BP oil spill of 2010, Colin Price (Cage) is a Louisiana congressman whose impassioned, heartfelt speech thrusts him into the national spotlight. Suddenly there’s chatter of a Senate run, and while Price is hesitant to trade on the suffering of his constituents for more power, he’s willing to do so for the greater good. So he’s a saint? Of course not. Turns out he’s been unfaithful to his wife (Connie Nielsen).
The affair is revealed, and Price’s tainted name makes it impossible for his programs to gain traction. To do good, he’ll have to compromise his ethics.
