NFL coaches love to tell the same lame joke every spring when talking about the off-season: “What off-season?” they quip.
Then it stopped being a joke. There really is no NFL off-season anymore.

It's time for the NFL to get robots ready to play against each other so that the players who seem to be aware all of a sudden that they are in a dangerous sport, can stand on the sidelines and "direct" the action with droids of themselves.

There is a risk of over exposure and the loss of fan support from burn out. Nascar thought they could expand forever with more races covering more of the year and now finds themselves removing seats from race tracks.
I'm more a baseball guy & the "hot stove" off season is plenty for me.But I gotta tip the cap to the NFL media machine for the event & scheduling wizardry.
It'll be impressive if they can drive the March basketball tournament off the air.

Just get me to the games - the rest is window dressing. I still believe there is a time and season for everything, and year-round NFL doesn't do it for me. Talk to me in late August about football, and that's assuming my Detroit Tigers aren't in the pennant race.
No mention of all the ESPN channels which need to be filled. Its okay with me that the NFL off-season is getting more popular. One reason not mentioned that the NFL's offseason is gaining popularity is that the short regular season is less exciting each year. Football is merely following the history of baseball. MLB, now hopefully in 2015 with shorter games, has become more appealing. The NFL can have its own "hot stove league." Give me real games -- 162 real baseball games,, in person!

all of this is so silly. a bunch of grow ups sitting around and watching overgrown teens throw a ball throw a hoop. and they dont even know who the players or coaches are. not really. and dont care. just another way to amuse ourselves to death.

For years I described the time between the Super Bowl and Pre-season as my son's "Waiting for Football Season" Season. All this programming makes WFFS Season easier to endure.

The Draft!?! No real mention of the draft, the grand daddy of off-season events. The spectacle! The Jets fans!
