Newly found Animal Fossils Solve Age-old Puzzles

Some age-old puzzles regarding the common ancestor for animals like the horse, the rhino and the tapir have been solved, with the help of newly discovered animal fossils.

A group of animals called Perissodactyla survived around 56 million years ago. The so-called "odd-toed" ungulate is linked to this group, any animal with odd-numbered toes on their rear feet. But the fossil record was somewhat thin when it came to good examples of the animal group.
