New York Times editors respond to ‘tone-deaf’ Shonda Rhimes article 

The Times’ Public Editor published her inquiry into how the piece was published, and whether it was vetted by editors first. Alessandra Stanley made controversial comments about TV titan Rhimes, and actress Viola Davis.

After receiving severe backlash for publishing an article reducing prolific showrunner Shonda Rhimes to an "angry black woman" and characterizing Oscar-nominated actress Viola Davis as "less classically beautiful" than others, editors at the New York Times have weighed in - or owned up.
