New York City May Face 6 Foot Sea Level Rise by 2100

According to an independent panel of climate experts, climate change may lead to a raise in sea level of about 6 feet by the end of the century in the New York City area. Researchers reported that their scenario is worse than the previous estimates which had been pointing at a 2 to 4 feet increase by 2100.

Besides floods, the panel found that the Big Apple would face also hotter temperatures, a surge in heat waves, and more rainfall. Coastal boroughs will also need to be extra precautionary since they will be the ones most affected by the 6 foot increase in sea level, experts warn.
