New Tesla starter Model S is nicer, pricier 70D

Tesla Motors said Wednesday that it is creating a new lowest-priced model, adding more features than the previous cheapest model and raising the price slightly.

Tesla sees the move as allowing its high-performance electric cars to better compete against the likes of leading midsize luxury cars from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
