New Study Indicates Sea Level Rise Higher Than Estimated

A new study examines the effect of climate change on rising sea levels starting at the end of the 20th century and carrying on to the present. While we already knew that sea levels have been rising, this study indicates that the rate of sea level increase has been accelerating over the last two decades in particular—and at a rate faster than previously anticipated.

This new study has been published in the journal Nature, by Carling Hay, from the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University. The study authors intimate that the numbers from the 20th century are lower than previous estimates, but the last two decades have been higher.
