A new strain of a common virus might be responsible for unexplained paralysis in children

As if the enterovirus wasn’t bad enough on its own, strain EV-D68 sufferers are now starting to report muscle weakness and paralysis that doctors can’t explain, according to a study published in the journal Lancet Infectious Diseases.

In last year the enterovirus has caused at least 115 unexplained muscle weakness or paralysis in children in 34 states.
