New Leopard Frog Species Identified and Named

In 2008, Rutgers University graduate student Jeremy Feinberg heard an unusual chirping sound while walking around Staten Island. Surprised to find a frog making that noise he investigated further to find that this is a new species of frog, which scientists have now learned is related to two other leopard frog species indigenous to New York and other areas along the East Coast.

Feinberg says, “We see these leopard frogs in pockets throughout the Meadowlands. That’s a great story.
