New Fossils shed Light on Mammals’ Origin

Researchers have found fossils in China that altered the previous estimations of mammalian evolution. They have discovered fossils of tiny, squirrel-like creatures of a new group, Euharamiyida. Before the discovery, researchers only had teeth of these small creatures.

At the American Museum of Natural History in New York, Dr. Jin Meng said that from a long time, scientists were trying to discover whether Haramiyida, an extinct group, belongs to Mammalia, class of mammals.
